They’re baaaaack! [most of them at least]

23 09 2008

Hey everyone.. Since most of my favorite shows [and new ones] are coming back, I’ve just been so preoccupied trying to get on track with my favorite TV shows.

I’m currently following almost 30 shows, and for thos of you who ask how I manage… the answer is ORGANIZATION. Seriously, once you organize your time, you can’t even begin to imagine the possibilities of what you can do in that time.

I’m currently watching the Heroes season 3 premier titles “Villians”, and the writing is AMAZING! It’s really good, thoughtprovoking and thrilling. It picks up right where it left off, and I love that about Heroes. There’s not a minute wasted on useless trivial recaps in every new season. :) The recap episode was aired yesterday, to put everyone up to speed on where the show was.

List of some of the shows I’m following:

Grey’s Anatomy – Lost – Prison Break – Heroes – Supernatural – Smallville – Desperate Housewives – Fringe – One Tree Hill – Gossip Girl – 90210 – The Big Bang Theory -  Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Greek – The Cleaner – Ugly Betty – Brothers & Sisters – Saturday Night Live – 30 Rock – Samantha Who – Til Death – Private Practice – Damages.. etc.

I’m too excited about Heroes to continue. So, I’m off to finish the season premier. :P

Pray for my sanity you guys! :P

Writers Workshop Task # 2 ;)

TASK #2

Pick a color and base the main theme of your story around its connotative meaning. I picked the color Scarlet, which would reflect wicked, heinous, or immoral behavior. You’ll get what I’m saying when you read the first chapter :P I’ll be sure to post it soon. In the mean time, I would appreciate it if you would take the time to read the prologue of my new story.

Please post your stories in the Writers Workshop Page.
Enjoy!

A Scarlet Cloth of a Very Fine Weave

by Waz

Those who love [to see] scandal published broadcast
among the Believers, will have a grievous Penalty in this life
and in the Hereafter: God knows, and ye know not.

-Surah 24 Ayah 19 – Al Nur [The Light]

Prologue

Even if I had tried to warn them, I knew they would not listen.

If I had tried, they would have felt compelled to send me away; send me to some place.

My life used to be so simple, so uncomplicated. I used to think of it as a flawless and finely woven piece of cloth; warm, soft, and comforting.

My mother named me Scarlet for a reason that still remains a mystery, even to me.

The only thing that might have a connection to my name is a thing that my Aunt Maya used to say. She used to refer to my mother’s life as “a scarlet cloth of a very fine weave”. I guess that it had rubbed off on me at some point.

My life had never been this fragile, this breakable until today. The danger surrounding my friends Gaius, Ahmed, Darian, and I is immense. Nothing would have ever prepared us for this.

This should not be happening. Not now at least. Not when I finally had everything going for me.

Black or White?

20 09 2008

.

.

.

.

.

As some of you might already know, m old iPhone passed away a few months ago.. God rest its cercuits! And an acquaintance of mine just got a shipment of legally unlocked white iPhone 3G’s. The good thing is, the white one only comes in a 16GB version. The only downside here is that I’ve had my eye on the black one for quite some time.

The one thing I’m worried about is not being able to install the [Installer] application that would allow me to install Arabic fonts and additional supporting applications.

So, should I go ahead and get it? or should I hold out for a black version. Of course, the phone is ridiculously overpriced.. but I’m out of options. Note that only the back of the phone is white.

New number system is functional

19 09 2008

..

.

.

.

Yup, it’s working. For the next month or so, the new 8-number system will work alongside the old 7-number system to ease the transition. Good call MOC ;) [no pun intended]

Try calling someone from your contact list by adding the appropriate number at the beginning and their contact name will appear.

So, hurry up and change the information in your contact list. It’s gonna be hell in about a month :P

  • Number [1] will be added before all commercial 6 digits numbers e.g. 800000, 899999, etc.
    .
  • Number [2] will be added before all land-line numbers
    .
  • Number [6] will be added before all Wataniya numbers
    .
  • Number [5] will be added before all KTC numbers
    .
  • Number [9] will be added before all Zain numbers
    .
  • All the three digit numbers might remain the same without any additional digits e.g. 121, 107, 113, 777, etc. or have the number [1] added at the beginning e.g. 1121, 1107,1113,1777. [Undetermined]

Quantum of Solace – Coke Zero Ad

19 09 2008

Coca-Cola has used an instrumental version of “Another Way to Die,” as well as a couple of Astons, to promote its diet drink [Coca-Cola Zero].

I love Coca-Cola, but I think the ad’s kind of dull.. Loved the Aston Martin’s though :P

What do you guys think?

New MacBook Pro on German site?

18 09 2008

.

.

.

.Could this really be the upcoming MacBook Pro?

There have been many conceptual fan-made mock-ups of the upcoming MacBooks and MacBook Pros, but this German website has a profile page for the unreleased MacBook Pros. The picture depicts a design that pretty much fits the rumors floating around about the new redesign of Apple professional notebook line.

Note that the company ‘T-Systems’ is a division of the same company that owns T-Mobile. So, it seems legit.

So, what do you think? Real or a really good Fake?

Update: 1st Task Rules Changed

16 09 2008

.

.

..

.

.

.

.

It has recently been brought to my attention [by a certain AnGeL ;) ] that the rules of the writers workshop first task were a bit too specific. “Rewriting a nursery rhyme or fairy tale into a short story in the style of your favorite author” is a bit too much.

How about just [Rewriting a nursery rhyme or fairy tale into a short story]?

New Rules:

1. Pick a nursery rhyme, fairy tale or fable.

2. Rewrite it into a short story. [using its general theme]

It’d be much simpler, and would bring out more creativity.

Thanks a lot AnGeL!

Yallah, someone post something! I’m dying to read whatever you guys have to write! :D

First official Porsche Panamera Gran Turismo teaser revealed

It’s not like Porsche has done a very good job keeping the Panamera, its upcoming four-door sports sedan coupe, a secret. We’ve seen more spy shots of the Panamera undergoing testing than pics of Britney doing something unseemly in public, and that’s a lot. But rather than just show us the final production form of the Panamera, the name of which is now officially followed by “Gran Turismo”,

Porsche has launched its new Web Special of the Panamera for the Middle East. The Panamera Magazine serves as the medium through which we’ll see the production Panamera bit by bit. The first issue is out in the web special and contains a few not-very-revealing sketches of the car as well as an image that will be used in upcoming advertisements in which the Panamera peeks its nose out of a garage.

The front end of the car looks pretty much like every other Porsche; the roll out has begun and sooner rather than later we’ll be able to pass judgment on Porsche’s first four-door passenger car. Porsche says the Panamera’s official debut is scheduled for next spring (probably the Geneva Motor Show in March), with sales to commence in late summer or early fall of 2009.
